Aquafit- Exercise can be Fun!

Exercise CAN be fun if you allow it to be. Especially while pregnant!! 🙂 I know as I have about 2 months until the next baby arrives that I’m not as focused on fitness. I don’t always feel like it, or have the energy for it.  Aqua fit, or water exercise, is a great way to exercise while still having fun. Not to mention, and easy workout!

Aqua fit is extremely beneficial and easy to do…ANYONE can participate, as long as you can keep your head above water! 😉

Aqua fit is basically aerobics done in the water. You are able to workout at the pace that is most comfortable for you. The best thing is, no matter how hard you work, you don’t need to worry about perspiration or overheating!! The water has a cooling effect to regulate your body and keep you feeling cool so you can keep going strong! Even better than that, is the fact that being in water allows for support of the body which reduces the risk of muscle or joint injury!! That means those who have joint pain, or arthritis can find this an ideal option, not to mention great for pregnant women.

Aqua fit, or water aerobics is more than just “aerobics in water”, its also using weights, belts and flotation devices to strength and tone the body (in the deep end of course), using ones body to do push ups alongside the pool, as well as boards for added resistance.

Since you are doing aerobics in the water, you will often see higher calories burned because you have to combat the water resistance. It is very easy for someone to push themselves a little bit further, and see more rewards because of this. The resistance also helps build muscle tone, improve balance and flexibility, as well as increase the metabolism of the body!

If you are looking to lose weight, aqua fit is a great option. One hour of water aerobics will burn typically 400-500 calories or more depending on the intensity of your workout. If you were to run in water for 30 minutes you would see roughly 300 calories lost. This becomes a simple, easy, and fun way to lose weight!

I know I have gone to aerobic classes, and sometimes….I miss a few steps, or fall behind…another advantage here is that NO ONE will notice, as it’s mostly all done-underwater! 🙂

Unfortunately not everyone has access to a local pool or gym, and not every facility offers this program…but if they do…I most certainly recommend this to ANY women out there! It’s especially fun when you get a group of girls out. 🙂 It’s a great way to be happy and be healthy at the same time!
