How to Develop Success Habits

I love this article…as you can relate this to so many aspects of your life!! Enjoy!

If you want success as an entrepreneur or success in trimming your waistline, the strategies are the same. Your success is ultimately determined by the decisions you make daily, otherwise known as your habits. Develop successful habits with these specific techniques and achieve the goals you set.

Set clear, specific goals that are important to you. If you set goals that aren’t important to you, you aren’t likely to achieve them. Make sure you are truly passionate about the goals you set. Focus on only a few at a time. While it’s great to have a list of goals, you can have more success if you concentrate your energy toward two or three at a time. Describe your goals with specifics so you can get clear in your mind on your destination. Vague goals mean vague results. After you have identified your top goals, add why it’s important for you to achieve each. Getting started is often where many people get stuck, so make sure to plug into the emotional pull of each goal, to push you into action. And don’t forget: “The difference between a dream and a goal is a deadline.”

Choose discipline over your mood. Imagine if you only worked out on days when you woke up feeling rested, fabulous and in a happy mood. If your workouts are dependent upon you being in a joyous state, they aren’t likely to happen regularly. Decide the actions you are going to take and follow through despite your mood. When you exercise when you don’t feel like it, you are working out your discipline muscle too. You will be proud of keeping your commitments. This same mentality works for any goal. If you are starting your website for your new small business and tackle projects you dread, you will build up your discipline. Remember, it won’t actually be easier tomorrow unless you do it today. Whenever you feel like quitting, think about why you started in the first place.

Create a pattern of consistency. No one has to remind you to go to bed at night or brush your teeth, right? That’s because you have made those habits automatic. What other habits can you make automatic? Maybe it’s cardio workouts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and strength training on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Maybe every morning you take an hour and research a new social media strategy to promote your new business. Come up with habits that support your goals and make them automatic so you can make daily, consistent progress. Persistence supersedes talent, genetics and luck. There can be no true success without it.

Track your progress. When you set your goals, have some benchmarks to assess how you are doing. It’s easy to be excited about a new goal in the beginning, but your results depend on the actions you take each day. At the start of a new month, see how you are doing. What is working? What isn’t? Determine how to do more of what’s working to expedite your progress. When you regularly track your progress, there’s an added bonus, you stay connected to your goals. The reason why people give up so fast is because they tend to look at how far they still have to go, instead of recognizing the progress they have already made.

Be resourceful to support your goals. Has someone else successfully achieved what you want to achieve? Research the success habits of others and incorporate those habits into your own life. Answers and information surround you; all you have to do is tap into it and apply what you learn to your life.

Now get out there and achieve your top goals by developing the habits of success!
